2 - 5 Year Olds

When your child reaches approx 2 years old, the decision to move your child into the next age group will depend on the following criteria:

-Their stage of development
- Their age
- Availability of space

All children follow the Eary Years Foundation Stage for 0 - 5 years with a wide variety of experiences and activities on offer.  The room is laid out 'workshop' style so children can choose which activities they would like to participate in, rather than follow a rigid timetable.  The ethos at Little Monkeys is that the value in an activity is in the 'doing of it', and as such 'end products' (cards and paintings) are viewed as less important than what is gained by taking part.  There will always be a member of staff at each workshop area to interact and support your child.

Records of your childs development will be compiled in their own Learning Journal and will include written observations, photos, and selected pieces of your child's work

As your child reaches school age, we begin to introduce them to information about their new school, including inviting their Reception class teacher into the Nursrey. We are very keen to make the transition from Nursery to School as positive and easy as possible. Your childs Learnng Journals will go with them to school, helping the settling in period.

We hold regular Parent's evenings in order to discuss your child's progress with you, but please don't hesitate to make an appointment to talk to a senior member of staff, should you have any queries or concerns.
