HORSHAM Kids Step Out to Support Road Safety Week.

As part of National Road Safety Week, users of an innovative child safety system are to join hundreds of children across the country to take a walk using Walkodile (see www.walkodile.com) on Tuesday 24th November at 10am to promote road safety.

Walkodile has won a string of awards including UK Invention of the Year. Up to six children each wear a high visibility harness which links them via a secure two-way connector to a flexible central spine. This means the outing is more manageable for staff and the walk is more relaxed and enjoyable for everyone, plus the group is more visible to other road users.

Lyn Povey from Little Monkeys Nursery said, 'The main reason we wanted Walkodile as a resource was to make sure the children in our care were as safe as possible. It helps to make the outing better for everyone & the children really enjoy a trip in Walkodile singing the Walkodile song.  We are very pleased to participate in this unique event as it's a great way of highlighting a very important cause like road safety.'

Katie Shephard, spokesperson for Brake, says, 'Young children are particularly vulnerable on the roads so I am delighted that so many children across the UK, including Little Monkeys Nursery, are taking part in the coordinated national Walkodile Walk during Road Safety Week and raising awareness in their communities about road safety. I hope that as well as learning some important lessons about the dangers of roads they will also have lots of fun.'
